To improve the security and traceability of keys within the business and gain control over which employees have access to them, Terwiege decided to invest in an intelligent key management system. They were recommended by a colleague in gardening and landscaping to look closer at a digital key management system.
A Modern Solution for Key Management
Previously, Terwiege managed their keys manually by hanging them on a large key board mounted on the wall. All employees had free access to the keys, making it impossible to track who had which key or if all keys had been returned. Sometimes the keys were left in company cars or could accidentally be taken home by an employee.
“By using the KeyBox 9550SC, managed with the KeyWin6 cloud service, we now have a modern and intelligent key management solution that provides us with better control and increased security for our keys. We can now easily see which employee has which key and assign access to authorized personnel, which has reduced our internal administrative costs related to key access,” says Vanessa Mühlnickel at Terwiege.
Terwiege has keys for various types of equipment and work areas, so it has been crucial to have a system that allows them to monitor and track each key’s usage. One of the biggest challenges was the transition and communication about why this new system was being implemented, but it has gone well and routines have fallen into place.
